Winter Workshop Series: Brice Custer and Michael Thompson

  • South Hutchinson Community Building 101 West Avenue C South Hutchinson, KS, 67505 United States (map)

Our workshop series takes a different turn on February 24th when we bring two excellent presenters for a full morning workshop followed by lunch.

Michael Thompson farms south of the Nebraska border near Almena, Kansas with his father & brother. Michael will share his regenerative ag journey and some of the things he has learned along the way. On his own farm, Michael focuses on keeping a living root in his soil for as much of the year as possible, while the cover crops that he plants are used for grazing his livestock.

Brice Custer will talk about the importance of understanding the economics on your farm. Brice farms near WaKeeney in northwest Kansas. Previously, Brice has spoken with us  about how he made cover crops pay on his farm without livestock in the equation. Now, with the incorporation of livestock on his own cropland, Brice is uniquely suited to share the comparative economics of both systems. With rising fuel and fertilizer costs this might be a good opportunity for us all to evaluate which inputs we need to cut back on. Come join us for some great tips and enjoy a complimentary lunch before heading back to your farm.
