Jay Fuhrer will be concluding this year’s Winter Workshop lineup. Growing up in the Dakotas on a small grain and livestock farm, his interest has always centered on agriculture. As a Conservationist, Jay built a career centered on taking care of the soil. Working at NRCS/USDA from 1980 – 2020 out of Bismarck, North Dakota, Jay particularly enjoyed working from the tailgate of a pickup on the field edge, with spade in hand, conservation planning one field at a time.
Today, Jay spends his time supporting soil health efforts through Menoken Farm, a demonstration farm showing the potential of soil health principles. Jay continues to share these principles and how healthy soil serves as a foundation for cropping systems, grazing systems, cover crops, wildlife, gardening, pollinators, insects, soil food web, and quality of life.
This event will be held at the Pleasantview Activity Center starting at 10:00am with lunch served around Noon.
Weather permitting, Jay will lead another presentation in the field in the afternoon. This is a not to be missed opportunity to learn the foundations of soil health from one of the great pioneers of regenerative agriculture.
