Willie Pretorius, Soil Health Consultant for Ward Laboratories, is our speaker on Thursday, March 2nd. Willie has a keen interest in the biological functions of soils and he has studied the effect of regenerative ag practices on the water cycle. Willie sees the water cycle as one of the most important things for any farmer to understand.
“The only real process that will save our planet is to get the carbon from the CO2 already in the atmosphere, back into the ground where it came from, through the process of photosynthesis on a massive scale.”
Willie and other scientists have cited how mining the carbon from the soil has broken the hydrological, or water, cycle which is leading to more and prolonged dry periods. So what’s the solution? Carbon must be replaced or sequestered back into the soil and bare soils must be revegetated.
If you want to learn more about how you can do your part on your farm, and at the same time improve your soil health, come join us for lunch and then we all get to learn from Willie.
